The handing over procedure: The handing over of the building means that the responsibility for the building officially goes from the contractor to the client Just before completion of the building, the contractor must inform the Client, in writing, of the completion date of the project The Client has then 10 working days to arrange a handing-over meeting from the time of this written notice. Participants in the meeting at building site: Client, architect, main contractor If the Client does not arrange a handing over meeting within the 10 working days, the building is automatically considered handed over!! The Handing Over Protocol During the handing over meeting (at the site), a document called the Handing Over Protocol is written: - All claims of defective work, by the Client, is written here together with comments thereon by the Contractor - It must be stated in the document whether the parties (Client/Contractor) consider the work handed over or not! - The document must be signed by Client and Contractor.
