THE GREAT GATSBY SOUNDTRACK Asia Suttles

Chapter one “New York, New York” By: Frank Sinatra best describes chapter one because it represents Nick going to New York and being apart of the city that never sleeps. In the song frank Sinatra sings “Start spreading the news, I’m leaving today, I want to be apart of it. New York. ” this reminds me of nick because he moves to New York and unites with his rich cousin Daisy, her husband Tom and others. He becomes apart of New York. https: //www. youtube. com/watch? v=i-ZUXQu. Fcnw

Chapter 2 I chose the song “Unfaithful” by Rihanna as the perfect song for chapter 2 because the audience finds out that Tom has a mistress named Myrtle and he’s unfaithful to his wife/baby mother Daisy. In the song Rihanna sings about how she’s unfaithful and how hurt her boyfriend would be if he knew. The only difference between Tom and Rihanna is that Tom doesn’t care about how daisy would feel if she knew he was unfaithful. https: //www. youtube. com/watch? v=p. XF 7 ovnf. C nk

Chapter 3 “Party” By Beyonce best describes chapter 3 because in the song Beyonce sings about how people like to party and how they enjoy the finer things in life. In chapter 3 Gatsby throws a party at his mansion and a lot of people show up. People he doesn’t even know; However, he invited them. Everyone shows up because just like in the song “Party” by Beyonce the people at Gatsby’s party enjoy all of the finer things in life that Gatsby has to offer. We learn that Gatsby is popular and known by many people because of his extravagant parties. https: //www. youtube. com/watch? v=Sz 7 jnp 2 u. SG 8

Chapter 5 I chose “Reunited” by Peaches and Herbs because the song is between a male and female who used to date and they become reunited and tell each other how they feel and how much they’ve missed each other over the years. In chapter 5 of The Great Gatsby Daisy and Gatsby do the same. They get the opportunity to reunite with the help of Nick. Its emotional at first but then they get the chance to bond and fix things between them. https: //www. youtube. com/watch? v=mg. Ix 2 N 8 o Pg. I

Chapter 6 “Bad Religion” by frank ocean fits this chapter best because we learn the real reason why Gatsby bought the mansion. He was so in love with Daisy that he would do anything for her love. We also learn Gatsby’s real name and where he’s from. In this chapter there also rumors floating around about him. In the song “Bad Religion” by frank ocean he sings about how much he loves a girl and he’d do anything for her that it’s a “bad religion” https: //www. youtube. com/watch? v=Km 3 w. Oja. R y. E 4

Chapter 7 “The boy is mine” by Monica and Brandy best fits this chapter because in the song Brandy and Monica are having a confrontation over a boy that they both love and are seeing. Just like how Gatsby and Tom are both fighting over Daisy. In chapter 7 Nick, Gatsby, Jordan, daisy, and Tom have lunch on the hottest day of the summer when tom and Gatsby happen to have a confrontation over daisy where they argue over who daisy loves most.

Chapter 8 I chose “Bust your windows” by Jasmine Sullivan for chapter 8 because in the song Jasmine Sullivan gets cheated on similar to how daisy got cheated on by tom with myrtle. Jasmine Sullivan is livid and busts the windows out of her boyfriends car because he cheated. In chapter 8, daisy kills myrtle by running her over with the yellow car.

Chapter 9 “Dance with my father” by Luther Vandross is about a boy who would do anything to dance with his father again. Although this boy and his father had their ups and their downs he still loved him and missed him when he passed away. In chapter 9 Gatsby is shot by Tom Wilson and dies. At the end Gatsby’s dad comes back for his funeral and puts everything aside because he loves him and would do anything to be with him.
