THE GREAT COMMISSION REVISITED I. The Great Commission was Given by Christ. II. Analysis of the various accounts reveals certain distinctive characteristics of each. A. Matthew’s emphasis is on teaching. B. Mark’s emphasis is on the preacher and hearer. C. Luke’s emphasis is on the divine plan. 1. The gospel message is not an afterthought. 2. It was first spoken by Jesus. 2
