The Graphy Doodle Game! Matching Graphs to Situations: Interpreting Graphs Ms. Susinno – PPT inspired by Mrs. Gill Klesaris Set the PPT up to play as a slideshow. Click “slideshow” on tool bar above and then “from beginning” This will NOT work on a device! Use a laptop or desktop with Power. Point! Any questions… use Edmodo!
Set up a sheet of paper like this: Name Biv Ex) Z. Date Roy G J. A. K. B. L. C. M. D. N. E. O. F. P. G. Q. H. R. I. S. Answers will be entered in blue, red and green colored pencil
The following slides represent situations presented in graphic form. Read the situation carefully and decide which graph curve fits the situation best. Pay close attention to the independent and dependent variables to see which curve makes the MOST sense.
EXAMPLE On the graph below : 1 is the blue curve 2 is the green curve 3 is the red curve Graph Z Speed of skateboard 1 3 2 Slope of hill Let’s try an example! The scenario: Ms. Susinno riding a skateboard down a hill Examine the x axis. In this case : As the slope (steepness) of hill increases THINK! What will happen to Ms. Susinno’s SPEED (the dependent variable in this example) as the slope increases? THAT’S RIGHT! Ms. Susinno will go faster down a steeper slope or “ as the slope of the hill increases, speed of skateboard increases. ” This is a direct relationship! Which line shows that? LINE 1! Record your answer in the appropriate color. Name Z 1 Date Roy G Biv
