Juro Jánošík -Cikker was writing this opera from 1950 to 1953, its premiere was in SND (Slovak National Theatre) the next year. - The librettist of Juro Jánošík was Štefan Hoza, who made the libretto on the basis of credible historical sources about the most famous Slovakian outlaw Juraj Jánošík. -He sets out from folk traditions capturing the image of former life. - The libretto gives a big space to dance scenes which introduce the life of outlaws and also the life of aristocracy.
