The first ever book released was by Robert Ripley in 1918. They first began with comic strips about sports people. This cartoon strip was a huge hit which led to Ripley travelling 201 countries in 35 years, where the comics became not only one of the most famous annuals, but a career in radio, television and eventually a museum. In 1933 more than 2 million people visited Ripley’s first museum the ‘Odditorium’ in Chicago. Today there are over 30 Believe it or not museums in 10 countries filled with all kinds of exhibits.
