Three types of argumentative essays (9 B) n Opinion Essay: share your opinion or preference. n Persuasive essay: convinces others to agree with your opinion. n Argumentative essay: convinces others to accept your perspective.
Personal Narrative (10 A) n “A personal narrative is a true story about yourself. ” n “Personal narratives are most interesting when the author ‘shows’ what he or she is like, instead of telling. ” n Based on a personal experience.

The Introductory Paragraph Two Parts Ø a) b) c) General Statements: Introduce the general topic. Capture the reader’s interest. Thesis Statement: States the specific topic Indicates the pattern of organization. Is normally the last sentence in the introductory paragraph.
Body Paragraph n The body paragraphs = supporting sentences. n They are the place to develop your topic.
The Concluding Paragraph n Final paragraph. It has THREE purposes. 1. signals the end of the essay. 2. reminds your reader of your main points. 3. leaves your reader with your final thoughts on the topic.
