Shakespeare’s Plays Shakespeare wrote plays and poems. His plays were comedies, histories and tragedies. His plays show recognisable people in situations that all of us can relate to including love, marriage, death, guilt, separation, reunion and the need to make difficult choices. They do great with humanity, tolerance, and wisdom. They help us understand what it is like to be human and how to cope with the problems of being one. Shakespeare's plays are written to be acted so they can be adapted to the place and time they are performed. Their language is very expressive and powerful and even though it may sometimes seem hard to understand in reading, actors can bring it to vivid life for us. The plays provide actors with some of the most challenging and rewarding roles written.
