When modern readers and critics read two of his intentionally comedic plays, Measure for Measure and The Merchant of Venice, they didn’t find it to be ‘particularly comedic’ according to www. bl. uk. com However, some of his more well-known works, such as Macbeth, Romeo & Juliet, and Hamlet, are tragedies. These plays are classified by their morbid themes and events. Shakespeare also wrote plays retelling historical events, such as the Henry IV 2 -portion series, and the Henry VI 4 -part series.
