Elements of Art • The basic components used by an artist when producing works of art. • The elements include line, shape, value, texture, and color. • The Elements of Art are the foundation of Art and Photography. • We have already discussed Line and Texture as Elements of Art. • Today we are going to look at Color.

Color Wheel • A Color Wheel is a circular arrangement of color hues that illustrates the relationship between colors such as the primary colors, secondary colors, complementary colors, etc. • The word “Hue” refers to the name of a color( for example: red, blue, yellow, orange).

Your Assignment…. • Use photography to visually display the Element of Art known as Color and the subcategory of Complementary Colors. • You will photograph a flower on campus. Zoom in and adjust your body as needed to get the angle you want. • You will then use Photoshop to manipulate the colors so that you use a Complementary Color Scheme. • Before you get started you will work on a Complementary Color Worksheet.

Complementary Color Assignment • Objective: Show Complementary Colors in photography • Requirements: • Complete the Complementary Color Worksheet. • 5 photos that clearly show a flower. • In Photoshop highlight the pedals and background with the Quick Selection tool or Selection Tool of your choice. • With the highlighted areas, adjust the Color Balance to recolor the image. Image, Adjustment: Color Balance. • Composition shows thought and creativity • Save your finished photos in your Finished Work Folder • Save as, Complementary Color 1, Complementary Color 2, Complementary Color 3, Complementary Color 4, Complementary Color 5.
