Masks The masks made it easier for people sitting in the highest parts of the Theatron to see the characters facial expressions, which were built into the mask. Their were often fewer actors that their were parts in the play, so the masks allowed for one actor to play multiple parts with the change of a mask. Masks were built so that the mouth would project the sound of the actor’s voice all the way up to the top rows of the Theatron.
