I. II. Introduction Things we need to know about Judges A. B. C. D. E. F. G. It’s “judges” don’t really judge. It focuses on the Israelite tribes. It is not necessarily chronological or sequential. It fills the gap between Joshua and 1 Samuel. It provides the backdrop for the Book of Ruth. It describes a “confederation of states. ” It keys to the Book of Judges 1. Judges 2: 11 -23 (cycles of Israel’s history) 2. “There was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes” (17: 6; 21: 25; see also 18: 1; 19: 1; Deut. 6: 18; 12: 8).
