On one side the well-trained, wellsupplied British brandishing state-of -the-art weapons, uniforms, and ammunition. This experienced and professional 50, 000 man army is backed by another 30, 000 British obtained mercenaries, both trained extremely well in European military tactics. On the other hand there are the Americans without all of the fancy, cutting edge equipment. With constant shortages of supplies, the one factor that always has been the Americans’ strength over the British is their patriotism toward their arising colonies into a nation. Their will to fight for a new world without fearing a taxing tyrant has led them to believe that no matter how bad, they will fight for their independence. Through the night last month on April 18, 1775, Paul Revere and William Dawes rode throughout the country-side of Mas-sachusetts alerting all that the red-coats were coming. The redcoats’ mission was to march to Concord to take one of the stockpiled weapon centers of the Americans. At Lexington, a small village on the way to Concord, Captain John Parker of the Americans had a small group of minutemen gathered to stop the British. When these to two forces met, the beginning of this historic war was underway. Unfortunately at Lexington, the Americans were cut down and the British marched onward to Concord. When the British reached Concord, they realized the stolen supplies and weapons were not there and in their annoyance, they started to set some flammable items on fire. In the meantime outside of the city, leading the Americans was Paul Revere rides in the night see WAR page 5 Enlist in the Army Soldiers Needed by Robert Eng Chief advisor for Continental Army Commander George Washington sends a notice out to all men who are interested in joining the Continental Army.
