Movie Critique l A movie critique ultimately names specific things that make a movie work (or not) so that creators can improve.

Prompt l Write a critique about a film that you have seen. Evaluate based on characterization, plot, and theme.

Movie Critique Outline l I. Introduction -Hook (must get the reader’s attention) - film title -director -Why is this film being reviewed (timeliness, strong message, etc. ) -thesis (opinion + reasons)

Body: Summary l II. Body l -A. Plot Summary Topic Sentence l Summarize film (literal translation only) l Do not plagiarize. This must be in your own words. l No more than one paragraph

Body: Characterization l -B. Characterization Topic Sentence l Analyze use of characters (3 characters) l Are the characters believable? Relatable? l How do these characters affect us as the audience? l Ex: The character of Forrest Gump pushes the audience to sympathize for Gump, therefore making the viewers to root for him throughout the film. l 1 paragraph per character
