Transgression of Abu Jahl • The Prophet ﷺ was approached by Abu Jahl • Gave da`wah to Abu Jahl • Abu Jahl verbally and physically attacked him • Hamza’s slave saw this • Informed him upon return from hunting
The Reaction of Hamza • Hamza went and performed tawaf • Approached Abu Jahl • Abu Jahl was boasting about his acts • Hamza verbally rebuked him • Struck him with his bow • Accepted Islam
The Conundrum • Hamza’s acceptance was a result of honor • He prayed at night seeking help and guidance • Was guided truly to Islam by morning
Anger Against the Prophet ﷺ • Left home intending to kill the Prophet ﷺ • Met a man from Banu Zahra • Man was secretly Muslim • When seeing ill intention of Umar directed him to his sister • Confronted sister and husband • Attacked husband struck sister
Reaction of Umar • Sister did not back down • Umar was embarrassed for his striking her • Requested to read the parchment • Was told to purify self first • Read opening verses of Surah Taha
