HARD TIMES • Starvation was common, cannibalism even took place. • They drank water

HARD TIMES • Starvation was common, cannibalism even took place. • They drank water from standing ponds infested with mosquitoes. • Native Americans helped many survive by giving them food and water, but relations were poor. • But, by 1624 only 1300/6000 original settlers remained.
