Objective: �Students will investigate the purpose of the Eastern bloc countries and their revolts to break away from the Soviets as measured through their Cornell notes.
Setting the Stage �Eastern European countries such as Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Romania, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Albania, and East Germany were not allowed to develop their own economies �They were used to meet Soviet needs
Destalinization �After Stalin’s death, a new and more moderate group of Soviet leaders came to power �These new leaders allowed their satellite countries a taste of independence as long as they remained Communist �More groups in these satellite countries began to rise and Soviets began to lose their grip over the region
