Potential mass production suppliers: Shanghai Institute of Ceramics (SIC) North Crystals (NC), Apatity, Murmansk Pre-production full sized ECAL Endcap samples SIC: 50 received Feb 2004 NC: 7 received May 2004 150 + 50 EB on order 3 more due soon Must ensure crystals meet CMS ECAL technical specifications, especially for radiation tolerance, before launching contracts UK leading the crystal appraisal work at the CERN H 4 ECAL test beam Programme of intense test beam irradiation and monitoring with purpose built supercrystals mounted on E 0’ CMS-UK Oversight Committee 17/5/04 D.
