Then they set out on a long journey which took too many weeks. The roads were rough and stony. Joseph had to walk all the way so that Mary could ride on the donkey.

Mary and Joseph walked through the streets, trying to find somewhere to stay for the night, but there were no empty rooms. Joseph knocked on the door of the last inn. “All the rooms are taken, ” said the innkeeper, “but you can sleep in that stable if you like. It’s dry and clean. ”

The angel had told her that this was his name and that he was the son of God.
