REVIVE (VERB) 1. Bring back to life 2. Add more energy to She performed CPR to revive the unconscious man. Changing the music helped to revive the dull party. Soon everyone was out of their chairs and dancing again.

FRAIL (ADJECTIVE) 1. Weak 2. Easily damaged After heart attack, my grandfather was weak and frail. I don’t drink enough milk, so my nails are frail and rip easily.

APPEASE (VERB) To give in to someone’s demands to make them happy In order to appease her students, the teacher gave the class an extra day for their paper.

PESTER (VERB) To annoy someone with frequent requests or interruptions. My little brother would not stop pestering me while I was doing my homework. He kept knocking on my door and then running away.

VAGABOND (NOUN) Person who wanders from place to place without a home or a job My parents warn me that if I do not study hard I will end up like the pack of teenage vagabonds in our neighborhood, standing on a street corner with nowhere to go and nothing to do.

NOBLE (ADJECTIVE) 1. Virtuous, honorable, upright, good 2. From a rich, upper-class family The student had a noble goal to become a doctor to the poor. She didn’t want money or power; she just wanted to help people and do what was right.

MIRAGE (NOUN) An optical illusion which makes something appear real that is not The thirsty man thought he saw an oasis in the desert, but it was really just a mirage.
