The Center for Great Lakes Literacy connects educators, scientists, and citizens through professional development, hands-on experiences, resources, and networking opportunities that promote Great Lakes literacy and stewardship. The Center for Great Lakes Literacy Shipboard Science Week-long workshops aboard EPA’s R/V Lake Guardian (1 Great Lake per year) On-going educator support Professional presentations with scientists Sharing with and learning from peers, researchers, and communities Support for watershed education experiences Great Lakes Literacy Principles CGLL activities promote eight essential principles and fundamental concepts about the characteristics and functioning of the Great Lakes. They provide a framework for consistent, well-rounded Great Lakes education and decision making across the basin. Great. Lakes. LIteracy. net Shoreline Science Yearly workshops in each state Stewardship opportunities Classroom resources to support Great Lakes Literacy Lessons and activities Use of water quality monitoring equipment (Limno Loan) Center for Great Lakes Literacy CGLL was established by the Great Lakes Sea Grant programs through a Great Lakes Restoration Initiative grant, U. S. EPA, Great Lakes National Program Office. Previous funding for its precursor, COSEE Great Lakes, came from the National Science Foundation. CGLL. org CGLL is a collaborative effort led by Sea Grant educators throughout the Great Lakes watershed. The Center fosters informed and responsible decisions that advance basin-wide stewardship among an engaged community of educators, scientists and citizens.
