Have/ Get something done When you do something by yourself:
Have/ Get something done When someone does something for you: The hairdresser cuts her hair. She has her hair cut. She gets her hair cut.
Have/ Get something done When we talk about arranging for things to be done by other people, we use the structure to have something done: * I am going to have my hair cut. * I have my car serviced every two months. * We had the house redecorated over the summer. It is also possible to use the verb get instead of have: * I am going to get my hair cut. * I get my car serviced every two months. * We got the house redecorated over the summer.
Have/ Get something done We can use this structure in different tenses. Present tense: I have my car repaired Present continuous: I am having my car repaired Past simple: I had my car repaired
Have/ Get something done Present perfect: I have had my car repaired Past Perfect: I had my car repaired Future (Be going to): I am going to have my car repaired Future (will): I will have my car repaired
Have/ Get something done Transformation: Mac fixed my computer last week. I had/got my computer fixed last week by Mac.
Have/ Get something done Transformation: My brother is repairing Tom's car. Tom is having/getting his car repaired by my brother.
Have/ Get something done Transformation: They have taken his measurements. He has had/got his measurements taken.
