The Race • The world calls it a rat race. • Rat Race implies climbing over others. • Win or be climbed over. • God calls it the race set before us. • He speaks about training and perseverance. • This is not about striving. The Rat Race is striving. It’s trying hard but getting no where. (Story of people in the gym working hard- no change). It’s about body, soul and spirit health. It doesn’t have to be as hard as we sometimes make it.

The Race • Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified. • 1 Cor 9: 23 -27

The race • Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. • Heb 12: 1 -3

Your Exercise Recommendations. lol • Purposeful in what we take in and how we spend our time. • Connecting to God in the every day and not shying away from the tough stuff but letting him walk through with us – grows our faith for the unexpected. • Healing – working through the tough stuff and moving when we don’t feel like it. Bring those around us with us. • Purposeful living/training instead of striving.
