The biographies of my village
Our lovely village, Verkhnyaya Matryonka, is rich in its history and nature. But the most important richness are people who live here. We would like to tell you about some of them.
Putilin Vasiliy Sergeevich • He was the youngest among Dobrinka heroes. Called up in June, 1942, Putilin took part at the West and Central fronts. A signaller Putilin went his fight way from Kursk region to Byelorussia. During furious fascists’ attacks he displayed courage and sharpness.
Once after his commander’s death he bravely led his company and destroyed fascists in the village. • During forced crossing of the Dnieper in September, 1943 Putilin crossed the river under the enemy’s fire with a group of soldiers, organized the defense of the taken bridgehead which ensured the crossing of the main forces.
• According to the Declare of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR Putilin Vasiliy Sergeevich was given the rank of the Hero of the USSR and was awarded Gold Star medal.
Putilin V. S. had to go to the studies but during one of the usual attacks among the first soldiers he was heavily wounded. Vasiliy died. The herosoldier was only 19. It happened on the 4 th of January, 1944. V. S. Putilin was buried in the village Sobolevka, Mogilyov Region in Byelorussia.
• The childen organization in our school is named after the hero Putilin Vasiliy Sergeevich
Astankov Alexey Fyodorovich His name is known to many agricultural workers. He was a talanted organizer and a skilful educator and showed the example of a brave and innovatory approach to solving difficult questions.
• He was born on the 17 th of February, 1925. His father went to the front and didn’t return. So at the age of 16 he had to replace his father for his six little brothers and sisters. • First of all he was a brigade leader, then – an accountant. For his diligence and industry he was elected the chairman of the farm Frunze in 1958. So he became responsible for one of the biggest farm in Dobrinka district with the area of 11 thousand hectares and fortunes of thousands inhabitants from six small villages.
• From morning till late evening without any rest and sleep Alexey Fyodorovich made his best to achieve high records and raise the living standards of the villagers.
• Under his leading the great changes were made not only on the farm but in the village too. A new and big administrative building, the House of Culture, a hospital and a kindergarten appeared in the center of Verhnyaya Matryonka. • Dozens of new houses were built for workers. • The asphalt road connected the village with Dobrinka.
The pride of Astankov was a beautiful four-storey building of a secondary school with a wonderful park around.
According to the declare of the Presidium of Supreme Soviet of the USSR A. F. Astankov was awarded the title of a Hero of Socialist Labour with the order of Lenin and the medal “Hammer and Sickle”. • Several times the collective farm was the winner of allunion socialist competitions. • In 1967 the farm Frunze was given a Notable Banner and the best 123 farmers were awarded orders and medals.

• Astankov dreamt to turn Verhnyaya Matryonka into a classical agrocity. But he tragically died in 1985. All his life he devoted to people and deserved their love and respect. He lived for people and grateful inhabitants named our village school after A. F. Astankov on his 80 th anniversary.
Ryazantsev Vasiliy Leontievich • • 73 years ago in a small village Malaya Matryonka a boy was born in a usual farmers’ family who later became famous along all Lipetsk region. It was a famous sugar-beet grower Vasiliy Leontievich Ryazantsev. At the age of 16 he began to work on the farm Frunze and became well -known for his labour. Firmness in solving principle questions, kindness to people, exceptional demands to his friends and himself were the distinctive features of Ryazantsev.
• He was at the head of sugar-beet growing team which achieved the best results. His work was marked off high awards : the order of Glory of the 3 rd class, the order of the Red Banner of Labour , the order of Lenin. But most of all Vasiliy Leontievich is proud of the award of the Exhibition of National Economic Achievement – a car “Moskvich”. A stand in a school museum devoted to a famous beetgrower.
Now he is a pensioner but he has many things to do – he returned to carpentry and joinery. Summer kitchen, garage are full of his handmade articles.
The museum of his works was opened just at his place in autumn 2010.
Students visit the museum with a great interest.
• Every visitor of his museum gets a present from Vasiliy Leontievich.
Nekrasov Viktor Ivanovich • Stately, the eyes with a playful slyness, noble grey hair, a low voice and a prepossessing smilehere is a portrait of Victor Ivanovich. He wasn’t born in Verhnyaya Matryonka but many years of his life were devoted to our village.
• He came to our village with the family of his wife (now a famous Nekrasov-Hludneva pedagogical dynasty). He was a teacher of history. This subject became popular and favourite among local boys and girls as well as the teacher himself. 1987 -1998 – were the years of his directing. During those years he created a school museum of local lore and history, planted a big fruit garden. Our school became a prize-winner of All-Russian contest “The School of the Year-98” and Nekrasov was awarded “The Director of the Year-98”. The title of Honoured Teacher of Russian Federatoin summed up his activity. A school museum
• The students made the excursions themselves.
. • The number of objects in the museum is 1227.
• In spite of leaving his favourite job Victor Ivanovich continues his active way of life. He is a very interesting man. He has different hobbies. One of them is bee – keeping. Nekrasov‘s apiary
• Besides he is fond of writing. You can read his stories, memoirs, bee – keeping articles on the site Proza. ru, pages of Dobrinskie Vesti and Lipetskaya Gazeta. His memoirs are full of love and tenderness to our “small” motherland, nature. His stories appeal readers for discussing. In his articles he gives practical advice for the beginning bee-keepers.
He is always ready to share his experience.
• Viktor Ivanovich is a clever, energetic and progressive man. He sets an example to the young generation of Verhnyaya Matryonka.
Putilin Pavel Ivanovich • His leading character began to appear at school. He was the leader of students’ working team which worked equally with grown-ups.
• He was born on the 24 th of October, 1958 in Verkhnyaya Matryonka. He started his work as a fitter at the Frunze farm. After graduating from Voronezh Agricultural Institute he became a headed engineer. • Later in 1997 Pavel Ivanovich was appointed a director of the farm Petrovskiy. Pavel Ivanovich continued the work of the previous outstanding directors. The farm achieved high results. A lot was done in social sphere too. Pavel Ivanovich is a good father. He has three daughters and a son.
Thanks to Pavel Ivanovich a stud farm was opened in Petrovskiy. In 1997 they began to buy horses for the farm in different stud farms. They chose a sport direction. Today some horses grown up in Petrovskiy became sportstars. • It is a tradition to have horse-racing on May Holidays
• In 1998 P. I. Putilin was elected a deputy of Lipetsk Regional Council and in 2005 he became its chairman.
• We are proud of our villagers. And we have a lot of other people who set a good example to us : they lived in our village many years ago and live today; they are of different age and professions but it is always interesting to speak with them and about them.
