How did New Testament come about? • Jesus’ disciples began to share the Gospel (Good News) of Jesus orally. • The disciples told and retold the eyewitness accounts of Jesus’ preaching, healing, miracles, death on the cross, and resurrection. • Years later, some of these stories were written down and added to the Bible.
Why do Catholics read the Bible? • It is the Word of God. • To learn about how God was preparing people to receive Jesus Christ (Old Testament) • To learn about the life and teachings of Jesus (Gospels) • To learn about the life of the early Church (Acts of the Apostles, Letters of St. Paul)
