THE BAPTIST FAITH & MESSAGE 1. Written by men divinely inspired 2. It is God’s revelation of Himself to man 3. It is the perfect treasure of divine instruction 4. God is its author 5. Salvation is its end 6. Truth, without error, is its matter 7. It is totally true and trustworthy 8. It contains the principles of God’s judgment, so it will remain to the end of the world. 9. It unifies Christians 10. It has the standard for human conduct, creeds, and religious opinion 11. It is a testimony to Christ who is the focus of divine revelation
II Timothy 3: 14 -17 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. ll scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: hat the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Bibliology is the Salvation of God The Bible and no other book tells us…. • That God loves the world. • That Jesus Christ has taken care of the problem of righteousness & perfection. • That Jesus Christ has taken care of the problem of sin and death. • That Jesus Christ has taken care of the problem of living forever.

Romans 1: 16 16 or I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

II. Bibliology is the Inspiration of God II Timothy 3: 16 - “All scripture is given by inspiration of God” Inspiration is translated “God-breathed” God used human beings to write the Bible with their styles and personalities.

Ø II Peter 1: 21 Ø John 16: 13 • Old Testament writers claim the Bible is the Word of God. Ø Phrases they used - “Word” “Statutes” “Law” “Testimonies” “Thus saith the Lord” • New Testament writers claim Bible is the Word of God Ø I Cor. 2: 13 – Words divinely taught

Bibliology is the Inspiration of God What the Bible says about itself: • Jesus Christ claims Bible is the Word of God Ø Matt. 4: 4, 7, 10 - temptations of Jesus Ø Matt. 22: 29 - they are the power of God • The Bible says it is absolutely trustworthy. Ø Matt. 24: 35 – The Bible will not pass away Ø John 10: 35 – The Word of God cannot be broken
II. Bibliology is the Inspiration of God Since God is the author, it is: • Infallible - in its entirety, especially the original autographs, it has no errors or mistakes. Ø Psalm 19: 7 - The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. • Inerrant - incapable of being wrong - it is absolutely pure and true. Ø Proverbs 30: 5 -6 - Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
III. Bibliology is the Guidance of God II Timothy 3: 14 - “continue” II Timothy 3: 16 - “is profitable” This means it is useful, beneficial, helpful. The Bible is for man – God gave it to him to guide him. It is profitable for: • Doctrine – instructions and rules we need for life. • Reproof – conviction when we get out of God’s Will. Correction – be set right and restored. • • Instruction in Righteousness – do what we should be doing as Christians. The guidance of the Bible will make us complete as God’s children (I Tim. 3: 17)
