Audition Vocab AUDITION: – similar to a job interview – actors are able to demonstrate their talents – an opportunity for actors to meet the person hiring (director) and to leave memorable impressions of themselves
COLD READING: - Auditioning with a script that you have not had the opportunity to read before the audition CAST: - the group of actors who take the roles in a play (noun) - to be chosen to play a specific role in a play (verb)
MONOLOGUE: – an actor performs a work (like a story or speech) alone on stage to demonstrate his/her talents to the director IMPROV: – to speak, or act, w/o a script, given a situation

Audition Etiquette • You are auditioning from the moment you walk in the door!
More Etiquette… • Arrive early. • Come prepared. • Bring pen and pencil. • Be polite. • Follow directions.
