I- Introduction ► The Android OS -> Operating systems for mobiles ► Produced by Open Handset Alliance and led by Google

II- History ► The ► Android OS -> developed by Android Inc Bought by Google in 2005 ► Google and other members of the Open Handset Alliance collaborated on Android's development and release.

► Android is based upon a modified version of the Linux Kernel ► In the fourth Quarter of 2010 the Android O. S. -> the world's best-selling Smart phone platform, dethroning Nokia's Symbian.

III- Features ► Android OS Has many features that makes it really one of the Operating Systems for mobile phones. § Connectivity: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth …. etc § Supports SMS and MMS § Android OS supports most common audio/video formats

§ Android Market: a catalog of applications that can be downloaded and installed to Android devices over-the-air, without the use of a PC. § Multitasking, using e-mail, Video calling, multitouch(usually used for gaming), web browsing , … etc.

IV- Competitors ► Android O. S -> popular but has a strong competition with other mobile O. S. ► Main competitors: § i. Phone Operating System (Apple): § Symbian (Nokia):
