The American Indian of Texas Diorama Project What is a diorama? A diorama is a model representing a scene with three-dimensional figures, either in miniature or as a large-scale museum exhibit. You are going to create a scene of a day in the life of the tribe you selected.
What do you need? Colors, colored pencils or markers Glue and construction paper A shoebox, or small box to create your diorama inside of. You may need a few more things (little model people, animals, popsicle sticks, etc. )
First, create your background for your diorama. • You can draw it, or print off a background from the internet. • You can also paint it if you would like. • Be CREATIVE!
Next, make or create your figures. • Depending on you tribe, you will want to add animals, plants, people and landforms that can be found in your region. • You must include their habitat and how they dress (SHELTER) • Place them (possibly with glue) in your diorama.
How to add animals or people with paper. Create paper tabs Make side, bottom, or center tabs for the rest of the animals. These will allow the animals to be attached to the bottom and/or sides of your box. There a number of ways to make the tabs: a. ) Make L-shaped paper tabs and glue these at the back of the animal's legs (bottom tabs) and/or sides (side tabs).
Don’t forget about your paper! • You must write a paper discussing the way of life of your selected tribe. • The paper must be HANDWRITTEN. • Your paper must include a Bibliography with at least 2 sources. • You will gather information and start your paper with your language arts teacher. • It must be completed by Wednesday, November 28 th.
Don’t forget to add you map of Texas! Color in the region where your tribe lived. Make sure you write the name of the Region on the Map! Mountains and Basin Region

Make sure you place a label of the name of your tribe on your Diorama! Remember, you are responsible for wrapping, or painting the outside of your box. Don’t forget to include a map of Texas, color and name the region your tribe lives in. You must create a background by drawing, painting or printing an image that includes a landform found in the region. Don’t forget that you can use printed images instead of toys to display your tribes clothing and/or job.
