Sura Shura [42: 23] ﺍ ﻳﺍ ﺍﻯ ﻱ ﺍ ﺍ ﺍ ﺍ ﺍﻟ ﺍﺍ ﻭﺍ آﻭﺍ ﺍﻳ ﺍ ﺍﻟ ﺍﻱ ﻭ ﻭ ﺍﻟ That is of which Allah gives the good news to His servants, (to) those who believe and do good deeds. Say: I do not ask of you any reward for it but love for my near relatives; and whoever earns good, We give him more of good therein; surely Allah is Forgiving, Grateful.
Why was this verse revealed? When our holy Prophet (S) migrated to Madina and the religion of Islam was established, some of the Helpers went to the him and told him: “You may make use of all our wealth and properties without any condition for the cause. ” In answer to them, the Prophet (S) was instructed by inspiration to say: “I do not ask you for any reward for it, except love to my close relatives. ” What does this teach us about the character of the Prophet (SAW)?
Because they have been thoroughly purified by Allah Himself. Because they are the truthful ones Why must we follow the Ahlul Bayt (A. S. )? Because they are the custodians of the word of Allah. Because they alone know the true interpretation of the The Holy Qur’an. Discuss your answers in pairs.
Sura Saba [34: 47] ﻳ ﻯ ﺍﻟ ﻯ ﺍ ﺍ Say: Whatever reward I have asked of you, that is only for yourselves; my reward is only with Allah, and He is a witness of all things. • This verse talks about how our messengers do not ask for any reward for guiding the people. “. . . . my reward is only with Allah. . . ” • Their motive is not money or wealth but for the pleasure of Allah (swt) and to guide the people. Now think and ask your own conscience, when you do a good deed is your motive for the pleasure of Allah (swt) or something else?
Sura Furqaan [25: 57] ﻳﺍ ﻯ ﺍ ﺍ ﺍ Say: I do not ask you aught in return except that he who will, may take the way to his Lord. • Allah commands the Holy Prophet (S) to tell the people that he does not ask of them any reward for this Qur’an and conveying the message of Islam, except that people will follow their Lord. • This shows maximum kindness and sincerity of the holy Prophet (S) towards his followers, for he counts their happiness and bliss as his reward.
