The Agony of Psalm 101: 7

Jacob the “supplanter” and deceiver.

Revelation 12: 9 (ESV) 9 And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

The deceiver found himself deceived, and that is the sad outcome of all who live by deceit.

1 Peter 2: 1 “So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. ”

WHAT DOES DECEIT LOOK LIKE TODAY? It is manifest in lying, Ps. 5: 6 Rom. 3: 13 Concealing the truth, Prov. 26: 24 -26 Misleading others. Col. 2: 8

Deception carries with it a feeling of both craftiness and betrayal.

One of the worst acts of deception is when it is manifest in betrayal.

I have betrayed innocent blood!

Most people fall into one of three categories 1. Some will be like Jacob the deceiver, and will eventually experience the agony of deceit, being deceived themselves.

They will seek to avoid any personal responsibility for the malice, the deceit and hypocrisy in the world. 1 Pet. 2: 1

Others like Judas, will pretend to love Jesus, kissing Him on Sunday and betraying Him for silver on Monday!

They will ultimately know nothing but the agony of deceit. Eternally deceived!
