The Advocate: Let’s look at the role of the Holy Spirit in our life

The Advocate: Let’s look at the role of the Holy Spirit in our life as our advocate. How does He advocate for you? First, the Holy Spirit advocates for us as the Spirit of Truth. (v. 16 -17, “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever – the Spirit of truth. ”)

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. ” Truth is liberating. The Advocate: Second, the Holy Spirit advocates for us as the Spirit of adoption. Everyone wants to belong. Everyone wants a home. Everyone wants to be loved and secure. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of adoption. He reveals & seals the adoptive love of the Father in our hearts. We need the revelation of His adoptive love.

The Advocate: Third, the Holy Spirit advocates for us by teaching us and reminding us about the things of Jesus. V. 26, “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. ” We need to develop sensitivity to the Spirit’s voice.
