The Adventures of Ostrich and Sprinkled Toast by
The Adventures of Ostrich and Sprinkled Toast by Ms. Sleboda Kerthunk! Oh hi kids! That’s just the sound of my best friend Ostrich burying his head in the sand. My name is Sprinkled Toast. Call me ST for short. I bet you are wondering why Ostrich's head is in the sand. He does it when he feels scared. I reminded him that today we are going to ride the Phoenix at Knoebels and now his head is in the sand. Ostrich is comforted by numbers and facts, so I told him that he can run faster than the speed of Phoenix. That seemed to work. Ostrich pulled his head out of the sand said, “Really, ST? ” Really, Knoebels here we come! First we started with a kiddie ride to build Ostrich’s confidence. Ostrich loved the carousel, but kids kept trying to ride him and complained when he didn’t go up and down. Next, we tried the tea cups. Ostrich liked the tea cups but he couldn’t understand why he wasn’t offered a drink. Ostrich loves sweet tea in a tea cup.
We finally arrived at the big wooden roller coaster. Ostrich took a his seat and a deep breath. He closed his eyes and didn’t open them for two minutes. The entire ride lasts two minutes. Ostrich said, “That wasn’t so bad ST. ” I replied, “Congratulations, but next time you may want to ride the coaster with your eyes open. ” Kerthunk! You know what that means. Next time I’ll wait to talk to Ostrich in the car on the ride home.
