Why are oceans so important? Over 700, 000 different species of animals live in the worlds oceans. It is important to protect the oceans to make sure their habitats are safe. The ocean is full of tiny plants which help to produce over half of the world’s oxygen, which we need to breathe. Oceans absorb lots of carbon dioxide. The ocean provides food for many creature, including humans.

Think about: • What animals live in it? • How big is it? • Where is it? • What countries are around it? Activities Make an ocean habitat and label it. You could draw a picture or make it from junk modelling. Have a look at the pictures below to help you.
