Keep God’s Day Special God’s rules were given to help people. God knew that people needed a special day, different from other days to rest from their usual work and think about him. We should keep a special day each week because it is good to have a rest and a change. It gives us a reminder to think about God.

Keep God’s Day Special We need to have a day when we can worship God together, learn more about Him and sing His praises; Sunday is the main day for Christians to do this. Sunday is God’s present to us. We can use this present in lots of different ways. Here are some ideas to try. Choose your top three.

They saw the wheat was ready to eat so they picked some and started to eat it, but some people were angry. They said to Jesus “You’re friends are doing a bad thing. It is wrong to pick food to eat on God’s special day”. But Jesus answered them by saying that everybody needed to eat (even on God’s special day , so there was nothing wrong with what the disciples did).

To use your left hand to eat, or to touch someone, was bad manners. One Sabbath day, Jesus went to the Synagogue and saw a man with a hand that had never grown. It was small and withered and he couldn’t use it

Keep God’s Day Special Matthew chapter 12: 9 -14 Love others from your heart The Pharisees studied the Law of Moses. They were jealous of Jesus and watched to see if He healed anyone on the Sabbath day of rest, so they could get rid of Him. Jesus knew what the Pharisees were thinking. ‘Does the Law of Moses say to do good, or evil, on Sabbath days? ’ He asked them. They never answered, because Moses’ Law says to do good.

Keep God’s Day Special Matthew chapter 12: 9 -14 Love others from your heart Jesus was angry with the Pharisees, because they didn’t care at all about the poor man. But Jesus cared and He told the man to stand where everyone could see him. ‘Stretch out your hand, ’ Jesus said to him. The man stretched out his hand there, in front of everyone in the Synagogue (including the Pharisees) the man’s hand was healed!

Keep God’s Day Special Matthew chapter 12: 9 -14 Love others from your heart Right in front of his own eyes, the man watched his hand grow and become a normal hand! It was a miracle! He was so happy. The angry Pharisees went straight out to meet with the Herodians. They were also leaders who didn't like people following Jesus. They wanted to make a plan to get rid of Him

Perhaps you could do something today to cheer up someone in our church or your family who is unwell or needing encouraged.
