THANKSGIVING AND PRAYER Colossians 1: 1 -14

ATTITUDE OF THANKSGIVING AND PRAYER • Prayers of Thanksgiving • Places us in humbly within the work God • Reminds us of the power of God • Is Joyful to us • Fervency of Prayer

GOSPEL CENTERED, HOPE FILLED AND FRUITFUL • Gospel is tied to fruit • Vv 4 -5 ties faith in Jesus to love of God’s people and future hope. • Vv 6 -7 shows that the gospel taught by Epaphras goes to the church and to the world • Vv 9 -11 shows that as knowledge of God’s will, leads us to lives worthy of the Lord which is to bear fruit. And a life of faith endurances as God empowers us. • Vv 12 -13 speaks of the fruit of thanksgiving and joy based because of the salvation and hope God gives us.

Colossians 1: 9– 10 (NIV) 9. . . 1 John 3: 16– 18 (NIV) 16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. 17 If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? 18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. 16 主为我们舍命，我们从此就知道何为爱，我们也当为弟兄舍命。 17 凡有世上财物的，看见弟兄穷乏，却塞住怜恤的心，爱神的 心怎能存在他里面呢？ 18 小子们哪，我们相爱，不要只在言语 和舌头上，总要在行为和诚实上。
