BLOCK #63 & BLOCK #17 ALLEYS PROJECT BACKGROUND The City and Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) are working to improve the alleys in Block 17 (between NW 3 rd St and NW 4 th St) and Block 63 (between SW 2 nd St and SW 3 rd St. These projects include the construction of a new alley pavement surface on both Block 17 and 63. The projects also include new curbing, sanitary sewer, drainage, signage, swale grading and sod restoration. Refer to the Location Map. The Project was Designed by Wantman Group. Mathews Consulting we will be providing the Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI) Services. The City has awarded the Construction Contract to Continental Construction USA. Project Area
PROJECT WORK SCOPE COMPONENTS The Project includes the following improvements: Clearing & Grubbing City Right of Way Installation of Sanitary Sewer System on Block #63 Installation of Drainage Improvements Installation of Valley Gutter and Curbing Installation of Paved Roadways Pedestrian Crossing Sidewalks & Ramps Stay after the meeting tonight to review the actual plans adjacent to your property. IMPACTS TO THE PUBLIC • Construction Duration – The Project will be completed in a 90 Day Timeframe (additional 30 days to closeout punchlist). • Public right-of way clearing – The City has provided ongoing communication to Property Owners along Block #63 and Block #17 Alleys dating back to 2016 timeframe regarding the clearing and relocating of items from the City ROW. Any landscaping or other private appurtenances located in the public right-of-way (City property) are at risk for damage and removal by the City’s Contractor. Please if you have not already done so, relocate all important items before July 15 th, which is the date the Contractor plans to begin construction. • Traffic Control – The Contractor has provided an approved Traffic Control Plan for this project. The Contractor will be detouring Non-Local Traffic outside of the Alleys and Specific Intersections during phases of the work. The contractor is required to provide local access to your property throughout the duration of the project. If there any special circumstances involving work activity that would limit access, the homeowner will receive advance notice from the Contractor. • Restoration – The contractor is responsible to restore in-kind all areas damaged during construction including driveways, sidewalks and grass areas. Final restoration will be completed as the last stage of construction. A preconstruction video is being completed to document the existing conditions along the job site before the contractor begins work.
IMPACTS TO THE PUBLIC (CONTINUED) Access to Properties– the City’s Contractor is required to provide access to your property or Business from Lake Ida Roadway throughout the duration of the project. If there any special circumstances involving work activity that would limit access, the Property Owner will receive advance notice. The Contractor will install a Message Board a week in advance of the Construction Start Date and will hand out Resident Notifications with their Contact Information prior to Construction being underway. Restoration – the Contractor is responsible to restore in-kind all areas damaged or disturbed during construction including roadway, driveways, sidewalks and grass areas. Final restoration will be completed as the last stage of construction. A preconstruction video will be completed to document the existing conditions along the project site before they begin work.
