Louisiana’s Curriculum • Curriculum built on concept of rigorous and challenging content standards • Frameworks developed in early 1990 s: ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies, FLA, and the Arts. • In 2005, Comprehensive Curriculum developed based on Grade Level Expectations (GLEs).
Louisiana’s Curriculum (continued) • GLEs: Statements of what students should know and be able to do (Pre-K, ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies) by the end of each grade level • Comprehensive Curriculum: Includes instructional units focusing on GLEs with a time frame, sample activities and sample assessments.
