Texas Education Service Centers ** Established by the Texas State Legislature in 1967 under the Texas Commissioner of Education. ** Created 20 regional service centers for the purpose of providing services to the school districts within a defined geographic region. ** Are non-regulatory, have no taxing authority, and provide services for which participation is voluntary on the part of the local school district.

TETN Consortium TETN is a private video/data network among the twenty Texas Education Service Centers (ESCs) and the Texas Education Agency.

TETN Governance Committee Direction of TETN is vested in a eight member Governing Committee consisting of three members from the Texas Education Agency and five ESC executive directors. Responsibilities include developing and approving policies, and providing strategic leadership.

TETN Plus is a project of the Technology Task Force

Technology Task Force Ø The Education Service Center Technology Task Force consists of a representative from each of the twenty Education Service Centers designated by each individual Executive Director and a representative of the Texas Education Agency. The basic purpose of the task force is to assist Education Service Centers in developing and maintaining capability to deliver regional services needed to implement and advance the Long Range Plan for Technology in schools throughout Texas.

Technology Task Force Continued Ø The Education Service Center Technology Task Force will serve to foster collaboration among and between the ESCs and TEA to address emerging issues, educational technology training needs, and common technical issues.

Technology Task Force Continued Ø Overall direction and support are provided by the ESC Executive Directors and TEA leaders with responsibility in the areas of technology and Education Service Centers. Planning and implementation of the specific capacity-building projects are provided through ESC Technology Task Force Representatives for each organization.
