Credit system used at the institution • • • A rating system (minimum - 55 points, maximum - 100 points) was introduced for all types of HEIs in Uzbekistan. The system requires a separate allocation of academic hours for student independent learning and the assessment of the students’ knowledge at the end of each semester. The following marking scheme is applied: 86 -100 – excellent (5); 71 - 85 - good (4); 55 -70 – satisfactory (3); less than 55 – unsatisfactory, failed During the academic year there are several phases of assessment undertaken for Bachelor and Master students regarding each academic subject taught during the semester. On the basis of the assessment results a decision is made about the transfer of successful students to the next year or to the next semester of the educational programe. It is impossible to be transferred to the next year if the requirements of the curriculum are not met by the students.
Alignment (or lack of) with the Bologna Process • Uzbekistan has undertaken a reform of its degree structure, replacing the previous one with a three-level higher education system - 1 st cycle of Bachelor – 4 years – Not compliant with Bologna - 2 nd cycle of Master and - 2 years – Not compliant with Bologna - 3 rd cycle of Postgraduate (Ph. D) – 3 years - Not compliant with Bologna • Level of implementation of a three-cycle structure compliant with the Bologna Process but there is other existing three cycle structure • Uzbekistan has completely passed to three-level higher education and a new structure has become the only structure for all HEIs (except medicine 5+2 plan)
Use (or lack of) ECTS • A rating system (minimum - 55 points, maximum - 100 points) was introduced for all types of HEIs in Uzbekistan. • The system requires a separate allocation of academic hours for student compulsory and independent learning and the assessment of the students’ knowledge at the end of each semester. • The ECTS is not applied at our University and further at the Higher education system of Uzbekistan
Administration structure supporting student mobility • There is generally no student mobility system at Uzbek study programs • But there is few higher education institutions, which have bilateral agreements with foreign HEI for certain study programs on students mobility • International relations office of the University is in charge for students mobility abroad • Each study program has their curriculum, which have to be fulfilled. And there is a compulsory practice within the frame of curriculum. But the practice is carried out at the appropriate enterprises, not abroad
Student mobility process • Internationale Relations Office of the University
Credit transfer process • There is no credit transfer process, but the credits could be transferred with the transferring study from one place to the other in accordance with the academic curricula of the chosen study program • There are various types of study transfer process among the HEIs of Uzbekistan: • Study transfer among the HEIs of Uzbekistan, relating to different ministries • Study transfer among the HEIs of Uzbekistan, relating to one ministry • Study transfer among the similar study field area
Grade conversion process • In all HEIs of Uzbekistan, Termez State University included, Raiting system (from 0 to 100%) is in practice • 0 -54% - unsatisfactory • 55 -70% - satisfactory • 71 -85% - good • 86 -100% - very good or excellent
