BOUNCING BALLS BRIEF • https: //www. youtube. com/watch? v=hz. Lw. QN 3 js 0 o • https: //www. youtube. com/watch? v=Gc. Gt. GUVEht. Y • As I hadn’t done any animation before this brief, I initially found it quite an intimidating and daunting task– especially as there wonderfully talented people around me who had done animation prior to the course. • It was incredibly challenging and frustrating because I often set incredibly high standards for myself and got irritated by the fact that I couldn’t execute my animation to the level that I envisioned as my skill level was incredibly low. However, these frustrations and mistakes, as well as my lack of skill and technical ability, allowed me to be more experimental within my work and gave me the freedom to play around with the different technologies and software. • It also allowed me to identify certain areas and aspects to improve upon by the next brief, such as timing and spacing, which was the main issue within the animations above, as the movement goes far to fast and is almost difficult to comprehend.

PUTTING THE GESTALT THEORY IN TO PRACTICE • The ‘Once upon a line’ animation

PUTTING THE GESTALT THEORY IN TO PRACTICE • The ‘Once upon a line’ animation by Alicia Jasina really helped change my perception of how to portray and capture character and movement. Whereas I initially thought that it was somewhat fundamental for characters to have all facial and physical features in order to convey personality and character, this animation showed me that simplicity and subtlety can speak volumes and communicate the quirks and traits of a character just as well. • Group animations incorporating the elements of the Gestalt Theory and inspired by ‘Once upon a Line’: • https: //www. youtube. com/watch? v=zavm. CPc • I think that my group worked excellently as a team and , although I do thoroughly enjoy working individually on projects, it was an incredibly valuable and beneficial experience to work as a team as other people provide a fresh and unique perspective and outlook, and provide skills and array of different abilities that you may not have or are lacking. • In both animations, I think we did incredibly well at applying the gestalt theory and at conveying a somehow relatable assortment of characters out of basic, mundane shapes.

BRIEF 2: LOOPING ANIMATION • https: //www. youtube. com/watch? v=G 4 l. BYa 8 rt. Xc • I think that this particular animation is a vast improvement on my previous outcomes in terms of timing and general narrative and aesthetic. However, there are still issues with this animation that are visually quite jarring to me: the timing is still far too fast and there a few mistakes that I failed to edit out during post production which I think disrupts the fluidity of the transformations and the overall pace.

METOMORPHOSIS BRIEF • https: //www. youtube. com/watch? v=Jwf 7 o 0 y 7 pb. Y • I am incredibly proud of my outcome for the metamorphosis brief and I think that it is very clear that I have progressed as an animator during the course of this term. I love the aesthetic and was incredibly happy with the narrative and transformation within the animation. I think that, during the process of animating this, I had become more self aware and was consciously trying to gage whether particular frames or movements where fast or slow enough. I think that the overall timing of this animation is relatively good– although there is always room for vast improvement.
