Template Charter Six Pack Business Case Describes the benefit (Justification) for undertaking a project and addresses the following: Opportunity Statement Describes the “why” of undertaking the improvement initiative. Should address the following questions: What is the focus for the project team? Does it make strategic sense? Alignment with business initiatives. Alignment with CSF. What value will be derived? Impact business units and employees? What is wrong or not working? When and where do the problems occur? How extensive is the problem? What “pain” is being experienced? Project Scope Defines the boundaries. Starting and ending steps of a process. What parts of the business are included? What parts of the business are not included? What, if anything, is outside the team’s boundaries? Where should the team’s work begin and end? Project Plan Identifies the activities necessary. Develop the schedule for completion. Define the key milestones. What resources (people, materials, space, dollars, etc. ) will be needed to complete the initiative? Goal Statement Defines the objective of the project, and is specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-bound addresses: Define Y = f(x) What is seeking to be accomplished? How will the success be measured? What parameters will be measured? What are the tangible deliverables What are the intangible deliverables Team Members Who is accountable to whom and for what? Who is the project sponsor Who is the team leader? Who is on the team? How often and how does the team report? What type of team members are needed? At what stage will they be needed? Is the Process Owner or delegate on the team?
