THE BUSINESS SCENARIO 1 2 3 Who are we? We are the analytics team for an online office retailer based out of Silicon Valley. Our exec team wants a presentation for the annual end of the year review meeting. What do the execs want? Practice Our leadership team wants to understand how our performance compared to last year. They want to see if there are opportunities to minimize costs to our customers. What data do we have? Transaction data for each order that has been placed in the last two years. Information on the products being purchased and the customers doing the purchasing.

Where should we put it? Our real estate team gave us four options that are all in our price range and will cost us the same to build. We will provide an analysis of these options to recommend the best.

THE RECOMMENDATION 2 Which location is the best for our truck fleet? Nashville provides the best option from a miles driven perspective.
THE RECOMMENDATION 3 Other factors. . Recalling our sales performance analysis, we saw that sales are high in the winter months We will want to factor that into our decision, as Chicago is in an area of the country that often deals with winter storms and snow.

Recalling our sales performance analysis, we saw that sales are high in the winter months We will want to factor that into our decision, as Chicago is in an area of the country that often deals with winter storms and snow.
RECOMMENDATION: Given our analysis, we recommend that the distribution center be located in Nashville, TN. We estimate that this will save our customers outside of the west coast up to 50% on shipping costs. Let’s discuss further.
