Telling the hour • For 1: 00, the phrase is different. You must use, • Es la una= it’s one o’clock

Telling the hour • From 2: 00 to 12: 00, you use the phrase, Son las __(the number)_______. For example: It is 3: 00. Son las tres.

Telling minutes • To tell the minutes after the hour, use the word “and” • By using the word “y”, you are adding the minutes. • Only use this when the minutes are between 1 -30.

Telling the minutes • To say that it is 4: 05, you start with 4: 00 and add (y) 5 minutes. – Son las cuatro y cinco= it’s 4: 05
