The history of the telephone • Telephones have changed a lot since Alexander Graham Bell used the first telephone on March 10 1876 and in 150 years they have greatly improved in this power point I will show you the first one and the newest one
The first telephone The first phone • The first telephone was created by Alexander Graham Bell • On March 10, 1876, Alexander Graham Bell spoke into his device and said to his assistant, “Mr. Watson, come here, I want to see you. ” In doing so, Bell launched the telephone era with the first bidirectional electronic transmission of the spoken word.
Candle stick • Popular from the 1890 s to the 1930 s, the candlestick phone was separated into two pieces. The mouth piece formed the candlestick part and the receiver was placed by your ear during the phone call
Rotary • The rotary phone became popular in the early 1900 s • To dial this phone you would spin the dial and pick your numbers by how far you turned the dail
Push-button • In 1963, AT&T introduced Touch. Tone phone these phones used touch buttons to dial the number instead of a rotary dial
Quick fact • “Ahoy” was the original telephone greeting. • Alexander Graham Bell suggested ahoy as used on ships but was later changed by Thomas Edison who suggested hello instead.
Portable phones • Portable phones were the phone same as a TV remote. You were no longer physically attached to your phone’s base station. • They first came on the scene in 1980 s
Phones through the ages • After all the years the phone is still just a phone even with all the bells and whistle
