Approval Process from Proposed TEG Charter • The IPDA TEG shall be empowered by the Steering Committee to design and develop technical standards that meet the IPDA requirements and fit within the IPDA system architecture. The TEG is responsible to review and approve standards when they are ready for submission to the Steering Committee. Each agency will be given one vote which will be comprised of “YES”, “NO” or “ABSTAIN”. A discussion period should precede the request for a vote. If there are no major concerns, then the vote should be called for by the TEG chair requesting a rapid response. Only votes that are in the “YES” or “NO” category will be counted. Agencies that do not vote will be counted as “ABSTAIN”. • The results of the vote should be sent to the Steering Committee. Once the Steering Committee is notified, they should be given ample time to ask for questions and clarification as part of the Steering Committee discussion period. Members of the Steering Committee may request a vote at any time during the discussion period. If no vote is requested, then the standard will be approved. If a vote is requested, then the vote will follow the Steering Committee rules for voting.
