Guided practice Summarizing Middle Beginning End Author’s theme, purpose, or moral of the story: Put it all together:
Centers • Group 1: Using your google classroom account, check out the assignment titled, “How to summarize. ” Watch the video and then submit your understanding of how a summary is created. • Group 2: At the front of the classroom, read the book Each Kindness. Use the “lego” method and fill in the worksheet with a four sentence summary of the book. You may do this as a group.
Centers • Group 3: Independent reading! Get Comfy! • Group 4: Partner reading! Choose one article on the back table. Together, read the nonfiction article. Highlight the most important parts of the story. On a post-it note, write the most important details you marked and why. This is your exit ticket.
