How are the kids affected? • The kids in your classrooms will most likely benefit and suffer from their digital beginnings. • The down side is that they will be distracted by their cell phones and digital devices like tablets, laptops, game boys, and psp’s…. • But, the up side is that they will be comfortable using those devices!
So how do we use their skills to their advantage? • Phones, tablets, laptops, psp’s all have one thing in common now days…Digital cameras! • Lets put those cameras to work for us instead of against us. Lets get the kids outside to use those cameras.

Camera phone Ideas… • Ask your students to take action pictures of each other at recess • Get them to photograph four corners of the block they live on while walking with their parents • Have the students use their phones/cameras on a photo walk. Offer prizes for the best photo. • Have a photo treasure / scavenger hunt. Have them run around the school getting photos of different areas or people. First one back with all the right images WINS !!
• Have your students photograph an event or activity and post it to places like facebook, flicker, photobucket, or their school web site. The possibilities are endless. • The idea is to get the digital natives back into the wild, taking their digital expertise with them and reporting back to you , the teacher, with their photos digitally stored, and their heart rates elevated.
