TECHNOLOGY DEVICE USAGE PROCEDURE
GOALS FOR THE EFFECTIVE IMPLEMENTATION OF TECHNOLOGY IN THIS CLASSROOM • The use of technology will: • enhance your learning, engagement, and interest. • give you opportunities for real-world technological skill development. • To meet these goals, it will be necessary to establish efficient use and provide a procedure to maintain functionality of the equipment.
PROCEDURES FOR USE: • This pertains to chromebooks, computers, ipads, etc and will be referred to as “devices. ” • While my expectation is that EVERYONE will treat the technology with care, I want to make sure that we are clear on the specific expectations for the benefit of ALL users.
1. You will be assigned a device by number. You will use ONLY that device. It will remain assigned to you throughout the course, so it is your responsibility to take care of it. If you find damage to your assigned device or it is not working correctly, notify your teacher IMMEDIATELY.
2. No food or drinks visible when devices are being used. If you have brought food or drinks into the classroom, then it must remain on the floor next to your desk. NEVER ON THE DESK and NO EATING WHILE WORKING ON THE DEVICES.
3. When working on the device, it should be flat in the center of your desk. NO DEVICES IN THE LAB AREA (unless you are told to use it for a lab activity).
4. Use two (2) hands when transporting the device from the cart to your desk and from your desk back to the cart. DO NOT TRANSPORT MORE THAT ONE DEVICE AT AT TIME. The lid should be shut during transport.
5. When returning your device, place it in its labeled slot in the cart (do not plug it in, unless you are the last class of the day, and/or the battery is running low).
6. No earbuds or headphones, unless it is required to complete an audio aspect of the assignment. Do not plug anything into the USB ports, unless it is required to complete an assignment.
7. Do not change any settings or themes. 8. If you have a problem with your device, SEE ME IMMEDIATELY. DO NOT return it to the cart, nor exchange it for another without permission. 9. You may NOT play games.
10. The sole purpose for using technology is to enhance your learning experience. If you finish early there are many acceptable websites that you may visit. If you have work for other classes that require the use of the devices, it will be fine for you to work on those assignments – WHEN YOU ARE DONE WITH THIS CLASSES WORK!
FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THE ACCEPTABLE USE OF TECHNOLOGY PROCEDURE. • YOU WILL LOSS THE PREVILEGE OF CONTINUING TO USE THE DEVICE DURING THAT CLASS PERIOD. • YOU WILL RECEIVE A ZERO ON THE ASSIGNMENT. • IF YOU CHOOSE TO CONTINUE ABUSING THE PREVILEGE – YOU WILL LOSS ALL ACCESS TO THE DEVICE. (RE-INSTATEMENT OF YOUR USE WILL BE AT THE TEACHER’S DISCRETION. )
