Overview • Our club thrives on a volunteer basis. Every member needs to help in some way at different times • Today, I am joined by two members to present information on how we help the VPE do their job • I discuss the general approach using the web site • Jackie Basa [CC, CL] will talk about the Schedule • Tuan Le [CC] will talk about the Progress sheet
VPE Helper History • Michael Yee [CC, CL] started the club’s first website http: //www. csusm. edu/tot/ • Tom Savell [AC-S, CL] hosted the web space for the Schedule on his company’s site • http: //www. gcas. net/toastmasters/schedule. htm • Michael linked the club’s website to Tom’s company site to connect to the Schedule • Member cooperation evident from the start
The Club’s First Website • Was part of the Cal State San Marcos University Internet structure • Had a different link address that was difficult to be found on the internet • Only periodically updated, much less frequently than today • Only Michael Yee could update site
The Club’s Current Website • Approved by Membership vote in October 2003 - Our own domain name - twinoakstoastmasters. org - Our own contracted server space - Maintained by volunteers • Easily found on Internet by search engines
Website Design Features • Simple basic structure, no complex webbased technologies - Loads fast - Contains essential information - Celebrates member advancements - Attracts new potential members
Website Benefits • Easy access to Schedule • Educational Progress member/club tracked • Provides a map to the meeting location • Access to additional resources • Archive of leadership presentations • Officer history and descriptions
Club Co-Webmasters • Don Larson, AC-B, CL • Jackie Basa, CC, CL • Tuan Le, CC

Technical Volunteers By Donald W. Larson AC Bronze, CL May 2, 2007
Volunteer Opportunities • As you see, this club is based on help from many members, it is in our mutual interest to help officers perform their duties
Primary Webmaster • The club needs additional helpers for the web-based duties. - Primary co-webmaster • That person needs to know some of the things you have heard already, but let me explain further.
Webmaster Duties (Or Not) • No need to redesign site • Only add, edit, delete text • Add photos • Add links to documents or other web pages
Clubs Mailing Lists • Add or delete members on mailing lists: - Member list - Officer list (and Shadows)
Contract and Registration • Server contract ends September 30, 2008 - Can be renewed by membership • Domain name registration ends on October 9, 2007 - Currently under my name - Needs to be transferred and renewed
Summary • All of what has been presented today is in the effort to demonstrate that the club VPE need helpers to make this club work at the level you have come to know and expect. • Without this help, other measures would need to be implemented, but it would require more effort from club members, not less to perform those duties.
